Biography of Larry Fink

Larry Fink, an iconic American photographer known for his black and white images of beatniks and party scenes, was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York.

Coming from a politically engaged family, Fink later referred to himself as a Marxist from Long Island. He studied at the New School for Social Research in New York, where he was mentored by the highly respected photographer Lisette Model.

In 1986, Fink began teaching at Bard College, following earlier teaching positions at the Yale University School of Art in the late 1970s and the Cooper Union School of Art from 1978 to 1983.

He also taught at Parsons School of Design and New York University. Fink's photographs of beatniks, which he was deeply passionate about at the beginning of his career, continue to be widely recognized and respected today.
